Honey Locust Trees

At the timber as we call it which consists of 19 acres of land that my family owns in Lenox Township, Iowa County by Homestead, Iowa. It is in the heart of the Amana Colonies. It has been in my family for about 120 years. My Great Great Grandfather and Grandmother purchased the land when they came from Germany in the 18oo's. I battled Honey Locust trees today also that are trying to invade the land. Today we cut and killed with chemicals about 100 invasive locust trees. Many of them were small seedlings about 4' tall. 2 large ones I girdled the tree and sprayed on chemical killers. I am not a fan of chemicals, but I know of no other way to kill them out.
15 acres is the original amount of land he purchased. About15 years ago my father purchased another 4 acres on tax sale. It only went on tax sale because the logger who owned it logged it out and there was little value left and so he left it go back for taxes.
